Evaluation of technologies and development of a concept for a “Service Delivery Platform” / “Service Environment” that offers Telecom services together with Internet services to developers. The platform should support state‐of‐the‐art service lifecycle management features and needs to allow an easy integration of additional services in the future. Furthermore, as optional parts, questions like service interface, communication and exposure technologies as well as service and application development software engineering processes should be evaluated and discussed.

Area:
IMS / VoIP / All‐IP Telecom
Web (2.0) Services
Mobile Applications

Prerequisites:
Knowledge of Internet and
Web (2.0) Services and APIs
Basic knowledge of VoIP Systems
Self‐Motivated worker

Problem Statement
Currently, in the Telecom industry all over the world the move towards service oriented
infrastructures based on IP, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Service Oriented Architectures
(SOA) and Service Delivery Platforms (SDP) can be observed and Communication Service
Providers are opening parts of their core infrastructure and interfaces to third party developers.
So, telecom systems that had been closed proprietary systems for a long time shift towards a
more open infrastructure that is able to work together with new services and tools available on
the internet such as Web (2.0) services and applications

Goals of Thesis
Evaluation of technologies and development of a concept for a “Service Delivery Platform” /
“Service Environment” that offers Telecom services together with Internet services to
developers. The platform should support state‐of‐the‐art service lifecycle management features
and needs to allow an easy integration of additional services in the future.
Furthermore, as optional parts, questions like service interface, communication and exposure
technologies as well as service and application development software engineering processes
should be evaluated and discussed.

Approach and Work Packages:
‐ Identify major requirements for a converged services / applications platform
‐ Discover and evaluate possible technologies and products to deploy a converged services
/ applications platform
‐ Evaluate quasi‐standard trends for service interfaces, exposure and service delivery
‐ Prototype the platform and develop example converged Internet and Telecom services
on them (e.g. shared address book, meta search, e‐mail to voice call, …)
‐ …

Previous Work and Literature:
‐ SCA, OSGi, IMS Third Party Calling, ParlayX Specifications, REST, JSON, XML‐RPC
