Phatic Communication (Small Talk) Program for an Interactive Robot
18.01.2008, Abschlussarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten
The robot ACE (Autonomous City Explorer) is designed to navigate among people and to interact with them. Therefore the robot needs to have the ability to communicate with humans and to react intelligently to different situations. The aim of this work is to develop a program for phatic communication (small talk). This program should recognize key words from input sentences and give sensible answers or ask fitting questions. This will allow a fluent conversation between a human and the robot ACE. The input may be typed in or later given through direct speech, the output will be speech from a text-to-speech program.
