Analyzing Telecom and Internet Service Oriented Services Exposure and Integration
Diploma / Master - Analyzing Telecom and Internet Service Oriented Services Exposure and Integration (Computer Science/Information Technology)
11.06.2010, Abschlussarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten
In order to develop a concept for 3rd Party Enabling it is necessary to generate an as complete as possible overview about current standards, solutions and best practices for service exposure, convergence and service integration in the Software Development, Distributed Systems, Internet and Telecom Domain. From that, a detailed technical comparison of possible 3rd Party Enabling approaches needs to be done. To conclude, from this comparison a proposal for the most promising 3rd Party Enabling solution for Telecom‐Internet convergence can be made.

Problem Statement
The telecom industry is rapidly changing and telecom systems that had been closed proprietary systems
for a long time shift towards a more open infrastructure in order to work together with new services and
tools available on the internet such as Web (2.0) services and applications.
Unfortunately, so far, most new telecommunication features, service and applications are still inside the
Telecom‐Domain and there are some proposals but on solutions for how to expose (Inside‐Out) them so
external developers can use them for their innovative services and applications.
On the other hand, there are also no solutions on how to import (Outside‐In) all the rapidly developing
and mostly highly innovative services, features and applications from the Internet into the Telecom
domain.
This leads to the open question of how to deal with the long desired Telecom‐Internet services and
applications convergence.
Summarized can be said that the combination of Outside‐In (including exposed services), Inside‐Out
(exposing services) and an Application Development Environment for Converged Telecom‐Internet
services and applications is called 3rd Party Enabling.
Goals of Thesis
In order to develop a concept for 3rd Party Enabling it is necessary to generate an as complete as possible
overview about current standards, solutions and best practices for service exposure, convergence and
service integration in the Software Development, Distributed Systems, Internet and Telecom Domain.
From that, a detailed technical comparison of possible 3rd Party Enabling approaches needs to be done. To
conclude, from this comparison a proposal for the most promising 3rd Party Enabling solution for
Telecom‐Internet convergence can be made.
