(Informatik, Telekommunikation) DA, BA- und MA - Semi-Automatic Service Integration of Telecom and Internet Services in a Service Delivery Platform (+ possible research exchange with Georgia Tech)
15.03.2010, Abschlussarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten
The telecom industry is rapidly changing and telecom systems that had been closed proprietary systems for a long time shift towards a more open infrastructure in order to work together with new services and tools available on the internet such as Web (2.0) services and applications. In order to develop new services and come up with new application ideas telecom companies are planning to offer Service Delivery Platforms that combine external (Internet) services and internal (Telecom) services. Due to the quasi standard nature of external service interfaces and descriptions there is no standard way to import these services easy and efficiently into an SDP infrastructure.
Problem Statement
The telecom industry is rapidly changing and telecom systems that had been closed proprietary systems for a long time shift towards a more open infrastructure in order to work together with new services and tools available on the internet such as Web (2.0) services and applications.
In order to develop new services and come up with new application ideas telecom companies are planning to offer Service Delivery Platforms that combine external (Internet) services and internal (Telecom) services. Due to the quasi standard nature of external service interfaces and descriptions there is no standard way to import these services easy and efficiently into an SDP infrastructure.
Goals of Thesis
Evaluation of concepts and research results for service descriptions and manual as well as automatic import/wrapping of services. Development of concepts for import/wrapping and management of external service in a telecom SDP infrastructure as well as for orchestrating telecom services and internet services on the SDP. (The focus should lie on Internet services and SDP technologies that are likely to be used in the Telecom industry like OSGi, JBoss, …)
Approach and Work Packages:
- Discover and evaluate technologies and products to deploy a service delivery platform in the telecom industry
- Evaluate quasi-standards and trends for service interfaces and service delivery on the Internet
- Evaluate concepts for generic internet service description and orchestration applicable to Internet and Telecom services
- Implement a service integration and orchestration prototype of the concept using an existing SDP infrastructure
Previous Work and Literature:
- SCA, OSGi, IMS Third Party Calling, ParlayX Specifications, REST, JSON, XML-RPC, ProgrammableWeb.com, …
